Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays

At Rockstar Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, Dr. Stella and her staff take digital X-rays only when we deem it necessary. We will assess each child’s oral health and condition and take X-rays only if certain sides of the teeth cannot be viewed or based on the risk of a cavity. Radiographs are an essential part of your child’s oral diagnostic and preventative care routine. These may also be taken every 6-18 months to update your child’s records. We follow a custom treatment plan approach.

Importance of Digital X-Rays

Every child is unique in their dental condition, growth, and development. The need for digital X-rays will vary from one child to another. We often require radiography for a wide range of purposes, including:

  • Examination of adult teeth formation in the jaw
  • Detecting dental problems
  • Diagnosing disease
  • Evaluating injuries
  • Planning different treatments

We follow the latest radiology guidelines laid down by the ADA and AAPD. We follow a conservative approach and take all measures to ensure the safety of our patients.

Ideal Candidate for Clear Aligner Therapy

At Rockstar Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, clear aligner therapy allows you to enjoy the best of orthodontic treatment without having to wear metal braces. These aligners are custom-made thermoplastic trays that go comfortably over your teeth and gradually guide them to achieve the desired alignment. Dr. Briana McRae, our orthodontist, can help you achieve the desired aesthetic results without the interference of metal braces.

Latest Digital X-Rays are Safe

Traditional X-rays are generally considered safe. However, digital X-rays reduce radiation exposure by over 90%. Besides, digital dental X-rays have many more benefits than their traditional counterparts. They produce instant images, offer higher quality, and are more environmentally friendly.

Digital dental X-rays are required for detecting the following problems:

  • Dental caries or tooth decay
  • Cysts
  • Gum disease
  • Extra teeth

We also use digital X-rays to assess the status of dental development, identify any changes in teeth, and track the progress of past dental procedures. Our pediatric dentist in Washington, DC, Dr. Stella, is board-certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is regarded as one of the top pediatric dentists.
